Fortunately, mental illness doesn't run in my family.
Just give me one thing, that I can hold on to. To believe in this livin' is just a hard way to go.

Who the heck talks about stupid stuff like politics at family gatherings. Thats retarded to begin with. People who keep up on it ! Liberals , will let it slide because they don't want to know the truth. They're happy in their own little world.

Most trappers know that emotion isn't part of their job. Like a slaughter house , there's no room for emotion. Do your job , if it bothers you , quit! Emotion is needed in life, same as tolerance is needed. I believe every trapper/ hunter here would help a baby animal , even though the know it could grow up to be a problem. Coyotes , are a tough call. Point is we do our job , kill, butcher , and eat or feed to other animals. We have to block out emotion from the very beginning . How many here have raised animals, from pigeons , or rabbits , to beef? Everything in between , is loved or you didn't do your job. Yet the time came to end it's life , we didn't really like it , but it is part of our job. Real life has very little room for emotions. We've all felt love, pain, sorrow, happiness , joy, sadness, eutopia , anger, frustration , loneliness , and even a form of hate. But I'll bet few of us ever felt vengeance , or at least really acted on it. Not that like today's world doesn't warrant it, but we know it doesn't solve a problem. We will find a way to solve the problem . Emotions aren't the answer. I have relatives that follow party lines and will die for the party . I used to be a GOD FOR GIVE ME , a democrat. I've been an independent long before Obama ran. Funny thing is as an independent you're limited on choices to vote for or against on the ballot. So with little choice , had to register as a republican , to have the right to vote in all parties . I still vote on platform , whom I feel is best . Yes I changed parties twice in one day once they showed me the choices on the ballot. Something to check out and think about.

Not every discussion has to be a knock down political fight.
This country has generally lost its ability to listen, reason and compromise. Considering another point of view is not going to make you a liberal.
What am I supposed to compromise BC? I'm not giving up a single gun, zero zilch nada. I would hope I don't have some of our trapping privileges taken away. Those 2vthings I hold very dear to me, #1 so much I will not submit. Guess which party in MN has been trying to take those away from me. Since I was born I might add and for the record I'm probably older than you. I'm not compromising and my 5 children know it. I'm not too concerned about them. My folks either. Other family members I can do without if necessary

Other family members I can do without if necessary You left out listen and reason. The 2A is a Constitutional issue and, like you, is a nonnegotiable for me. Same for other Constitutional issues and my individual liberties (hunting, trapping and fishing would be included). My point is that we no longer look for common ground when it comes to politics. Instead and often, it is instinct to shut down all communication and vilify others as racists, elitists, deplorables, RINOS, commies, pedophiles, Satanists, etc. This is lazy and unproductive. The politicians are the only ones who benefit when this happens--even when they lose an election. Start with something simple and find some common ground. Even the farthest left socialist and the most ultra MAGA screamer hate potholes in roads, for example. At least it is a start. Or we can just keep yelling at or shunning each other and accomplish nothing. Losing strategy.
