Bryna makes a less than lethal launcher resembling a pistol that fires .68 cal. balls filled with pepper/tear gas. It is propelled by CO2 cartridges with a range of about 60 ft.

Not good enough for bears, in my opinion, so I've been loading those balls in a 12 ga hull propelled with a primer only. It is kind of a touchy operation, with questionable results.

Now we don't have to. Byrna has now come out with their own. 100 foot range, and works in cylinder bore 12 ga shotguns. Dang. I was hoping to perfect and sell these things. Once again, a day late, and dollar short.

In this case it's designed to quietly convince that furry woodland creature that there are more peaceful places than T-Rex's home. I don't need the negative press that I would surely get with a bear carcass. Now, if it comes down to a self-defense thing: There are apps for that.
