I'm taking my son on a "mountain man" adventure in November to the Adirondacks. Ten days of running a trapline and hunting while we do it. Question I have is the fur. I will be getting a wall tent with stove for this trip, as we will not be very close to any motels. I was wondering if any of you have any advice on the best way to handle the critters we catch. I thought of trying to get dry ice in my 150 qt. marine cooler and just skinning and freezing until we get home, but maybe skin/flesh/stretch on the spot would be better. Any advice?

How about a small freezer and small generator?

Dry ice will work for a few days if you keep the cooler sealed pretty good. DO NOT bring the cooler/dryice into your sleeping or living area. I nearly killed my self with dry ice back in about 1979; and I even knew of it's dangers way back then.

What fur are you expecting to catch and how much.
What are typical temps.
When staying at the camp in the fall,(around freezing at night)we trap for 3-4 days, then take a day and put up all the fur.Repeat.
Two tents would be better-one for sleeping and another for cooking and fur handling. You only need to fire up a small woodstove once each day in the skinning tent to dry the fur.
We would put up beaver, mostly but also rats, mink and otter, and the odd lynx ,marten and fox.

Going to be there 6 - 10 days. Targeting Marten, Fisher, Bobcat, Beaver and Otter. Average historical temps are 50s for high and 30s at night. I'm looking at maybe a cook tent as well as the sleeping tent, that way the food is away from us (Black bear will be in season, but want to hunt one, not the other way around).

Thanks for the advice, guys, we are still refining the plan, and this is a bigger trip than the 10 day backpacking trips in WY from my youth.

I have never successfully been able to mix hunting and trapping at the same time; just doesn't seem to work.

Trapping is the main thing, just taking equipment along on the trapline in case. I don't have enough traps to keep us occupied all day running a line, figured even small game will keep us occupied.

Handling fur in the evening is OK as long as you have a good light source.
With my old eyes I much prefer to take a day to do up fur when the light is good and I aint tired from a long day on the line.
