Here's the stressful thing about having all that stuff....the minute you finally decide enough is enough and throw a bunch of stuff away a few days will go by and bingo: you find that you need something for a project and just last week threw it away!
My fear of moving stairs is escalating!

I own stuff I need to take to the dump. Every year I take a load to the dump but wind up moving more stuff around from one shed to another.Everything looks neat and tidy for a while and I know where everything is again.

Is hoarding a sign of other underlying emotional issues? Yes! I saw somewhere it added officially sometime in the last few years. I'm ok, though, I've been hoarding for much longer. As an update: I managed to clean out a small corner today, as well as completing a few small unfinished projects. I found a few missing, almost forgotten tools in the process. Life ain't so bad.

I think the instinct to hoard is a very vital instinct in human beings, that can cause problems, if not directed in a proper manner. Our ancestors needed to store food, tools, weapons and other useful materials to survive. Hoarding becomes a problem when the volume of the items stored starts negatively effecting the quality of your life, especially when the items are useless and valueless.
Keith I believe hoarding started after people went through the Great Depression. Eons ago, humans didn't have room or knowledge about storing mass items. But I've known several people over the years that grew up during the depression and they kept EVERYTHING. I've always heard, "you better keep that, you might need it someday." I go through my junk and get rid of SOME things I haven't used in a while. Yard sale buyers are the worst. "Can't pass up a god deal."

Hoarding is just another symptom of the Greed problem in the USA.
I learned on here that Greed is good and natural but I learned in Sunday school it was one of the 7 deadly sins...I have a friend who has a second house so he can hoard and when it got full he bought a 20' box truck to put in the driveway..he has other issues also but really is not a bad guy at all.

A dog licks it's hind end because it doesn't have hands to clean it. Words of wisdom by a guy who is a "globalist", extremely over educated, due to a silver spoon life, with no worldly experience or knowledge and manufacturers things that will likely end humanity, not 120 year old food products. Sorry Marty, I couldn't help it and that is being honest.
The above is all sarcasm outside of a dog licking it's hind end and 120 years of food products. Just didn't want to be unclear since sarcasm can be hard to read in text.

Hoarding is just another symptom of the Greed problem in the USA...... And tossing away perfectly good stuff is a symptom of willful waste.

Gold spoon would indicate an even higher status than silver spoon. It would be for the ultra elite. Glad I could teach you something new Marty.

Gold spoon was never a common saying. Silver spoon referred to people having been fed as babies with silver spoons. The wealthy usef silver utensils not gold utensils
