I was stationed in Alaska in 1971. The army strongly said even with any polar bear indications to call for emergency extraction.
Thankfully never had to. As said above I carried a 12 gauge full of Canadian SST slugs. Kicked like heck but the round hit trees like a train.

Fast forward to 2023. A couple natives were killed by a polar bear in the western part of Alaska. After reading about the incident, I made dang sure that I brought along a 44 mag loaded with Montana bear loads for the trip. I would have preferred my old duty riot shotgun loaded with slugs. Unfortunately, I was limited on how much I could fly in with, so I opted for the handgun. Never saw a bear track or bear on this year's trip.
They are magnificent animals.

That was a mother and small child. Happened in Wales. Several years before that a man in Pt.Lay. Both were in town I believe. Not sure what taking off clothes would do. Remember, it's dark for much of the day in winter. The attack is a complete surprise. Little time to defend. I am unaware of any deaths from PBs outside of towns. Last spring a vid was circulating on FB of a PB coming thru a whaling camp out on the ice up north and dragging part of a whale tail off. People were watching the bear from a few feet away.

Why were you after fox, AII33?
