His music was a part of my growing up years and always captivated my attention when I heard his songs on the radio. He is yet another legend that leaves his legacy in our lives. When music held some somber meaning and shared some life stories and experiences with good melodies. A great talent. RIP
Saw him a small theater in Colorado in the ‘90’s. Great show. You could tell he and the band enjoyed what they were doing. Great writer, singer and story teller.
"A bell rang at 3 p.m. Tuesday May 2nd at Mariners Church in Detroit, the "maritime sailors' cathedral" Lightfoot references in the song, 30 times, 29 in memory of the sailors and once for Lightfoot."
I still can't get through The Wreck without getting wrecked. Its embarrassing, but I choke up every time. Real tears, a little snot and some slobber. Its a whale of a story, and Gordon's voice and guitar work is haunting.
