I was once in the selection process, but I had to beg off as one of my dogs was going to have puppies any time, and I had noone else to be with her. Turned out I dodged a bullet, as a YEAR AND A HALF LATER, one of the lawyers said something stupid, and it ended in a mistrial!

My jury was asked to stay and talk with the attorneys after the trial was over, we were asked all kinds of questions as to how they could have presented their case any better, shorter, better understanding, we answered and I asked if we could ask them questions as well, they said sure.
I asked them only one question and that was how do you attorney's determine who is selected and who is not, they both answered in the same way with different verbiage of course, that they were looking for a jury of peers of the same caliber of the person being adjudicated, however each had their own course of action so, they also looked at how educated people were in the represented fields of evidence or arguments that they were going to use. Which certainly answered a lot of my questions after hearing each others arguments and how they were put to the jury.
Age played a big factor as well as men and women being the close or same amount of people on the jury to not be discriminatory, predominantly, non were asked if the drank alcohol or were ever given tickets for such or drugs, but we were asked a lot of questions about understanding the rules about when one is regarded as impaired in different scenarios, about health issues regarding driving vehicles.
Which all led me to believe each case is completely different in the questioning of each jury member depending on what kind of case it is, all were asked if they would have difficulties with a long trial, everyone said yes, but it did not make a difference in selection in our case, we all were selected even when we presented that yes answer !
Sorry if my opinions or replies offend you, they are not meant to !

I've never served on a jury. The closest I've gotten was as an alternate on a case that was settled.
When I lived in Montgomery County, Ohio, I was to connected to law enforcement and the judicial system to be chosen. On the last trial I was called for in Montgomery County, they asked who I knew and of any relationships. I knew the bailiff, the judge, who I had teach me in the police academy and law school, 4 of the 6 police officers who were testifying, all 6 of who were supervised by a cousin of mine, the prosecutor and the assistant prosecutor. I had eaten lunch with the judge and prosecutor on several occasions and talked to both quite a bit. I had over 60 police officers who worked in that county, work for me on a part time basis over the years.
I was called for jury duty here in Champaign County, Ohio and was surprised to be chosen as an alternate. The head evidence tech for the county used to work for me and we used to hang out socially a lot. I knew the prosecutor some. I think it was likely they knew the defendant was going to take a plea and that his lawyer just didn't bother to dismiss me.

I got called several years back... Actually served as foreman on the jury.
The pool is pulled from registered voters in the county. And it opened my eyes as to why the country is in the shape that it's in. The "compensation" I received wasn't enough to buy seed for a parakeet.
The legal system (I refuse to call it a justice system) is an industry unto itself. And its sole purpose seems to be to perpetuate itself.
A good majority of the buildings around the courthouse are owned by attorneys. A lot of them have taken to renting wall space to billboard advertising companies on the walls that face the streets... I've given some consideration to renting the biggest one and having "JURY NULLIFICATION: LOOK IT UP" printed in giant letters.

If you are over 65 years old, you should be able to wiggle out of jury duty fairly easily. I have read enough John Grisham books, LOL!

I was called once and had to serve 3 days. It was a meth lab trial. Boss at work paid me for 8 hr each day I was gone. I was young and native voted to convict. Was the guy guilty probably, but the prostitutes did not make a strong enough case to prove Mr more was the one running the lab and not just on his brothers property. Today it would be not guilty on that alone You win!

I was selected for Jury Duty three times. The first two times I was exempt due to employment(LE). Third time the exemption was not available and I was actually selected to serve. During the opening statements(Medical Doctor accused of arson) the Defense Attorney asked to approached the bench, The Attorneys met at the bench. Then the Judge and Attorneys left the court room briefly and when they returned, Juror Number 4 can step down... and my Jury Duty was done!
Let's go Brandon!

Spoke to quick the other day, local county courts don't send a summons but today got one in mail for U.S. District Court, which is only a 3.5 to 4 hour drive each way, 210 miles. Would kinda hate to make that drive only to be excused
