Had the same symptoms last year. hadn't been sick for years and then , bam, worst I've ever felt.
After a few days of thinking I could tough it out and heal myself I went to the doctor. First one was so sure it was the vid, that he tested me three times, trying to get a positive one.
Next doctor was sure it was Lymes disease, negative on that too.
Turns out it was something bacterial, and I don't remember what they gave me , ( doxycycline sounds familiar) but it started working nearly immeadiately.

Feeling much better after two days on these strong antibiotics. No chills, sweats, fever, still some fatigue and body aches. But, man, those first 4 days were heck.
Be glad to get back to critter catching.
