If you do get a bite don't fool around, see a doctor, believe me, I've been there.

I'd be going to the doctor daily if I went every time I got bit!

I call the doc, he phones in a script for doxycycline. Four tablets, take two a day. Cost at pharmacy…$1.16 for four tablets.

Permethrin works wonders, especially if you use a little deet with it. Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Lymes disease and others are bad but can be treated. Alphagal is spread by ticks and usually lasts the rest of your life. It is a life threatening allergy to meat from mammals . You cannot eat beef, pork, deer forever

I use the same thing. It seems more effective than Deet. I spray my pants and shoes. They say you shouldn't spray it on your skin only your clothing.

It's not always about catching fish. That's what people who don't catch fish usually say.

Lyme isn’t in Canada. Or so a lot of our docs think. About 10 years ago I had joint issues & a swollen hand, X-rays were fine. While doing blood tests, the nurse told me to go to Minnesota and pay to get tested for Lyme. Others from Manitoba went south, but by that time the disease really screwed them up. Funny, The government puts out all kinds of tick/Lyme warnings but our docs don’t like it…….with all the cases, this may be changing though.

If they’re latched on, can be itchy for months and leave a scar. But my last one itched the next day and that’s it.

Ohhh yea, the hand turned out to be gout…lol

I let them feed. I hope they catch something deadly from biting me. Where I have to work, there is no avoiding them completely. Some will find an untreated area regardless of what I spray down with. Why, just today, I found one during a personal hygiene wiping. I just don't feel comfortable treating that particular area with chemicals.
