That started about the time Obummercare kicked in with the labs not being covered by insurance companies .

What the heck kind of blood work did you get? $50 gets me checked for everything but mental illness. lol

It seemed crazy high to me too. They tested basic blood work, as well as Cortisol, Estrogen, and Thyroid levels.

My issue is that I am constantly tired no matter how much or little sleep I get... and at my age I don't think it's normal to be that tired all the time. I'm trying to find out why.

Iron?

Experienced something similar a while back. I think my issue was laziness. I finally forced myself to get up and do stuff even though I felt like sleeping. Got better after a couple weeks.

Now that I’m on Medicare and have a supplement policy I don’t get hit with those extra fees like I did with private coverage might be the healthcare system playing games again. My thought was if they “gave” it to insured folks then they would have to give it away under Obummercare also because of the timing it seemed like that.

Surprisingly it looks like the new 4 year contract we vote on Monday keeps our insurance cost and coverage the same. No increase in out of pocket no cecrease in coverage. 17% raise over the 4 years, small bump to the pension, and vacation eligibility gets moved up one year.

Now I know that's just my cost and the cost to our employer has increased I'm just not going to see it in the next 4 years.

Care quality will suffer a little when doctors in the lower third of the class sign on with the insurance companies to recoop some of the dough.

Care quality in metro MN is terrible already. With the huge influx of refugees/migrants and illegals, you have to wait weeks/months to be seen and treated for life threatening conditions. Too many people and not enough Dr.s and facilities. If you want to be treated quickly here, you better call an ambulance.

Hospitals are big money makers, a large portion of buildings in Sioux Falls are owned by the 2 major healthcare providers many expensive new builds and lots of mini mall specialties services they are all over. When I had my hernia operation the nurse said the doc worked a few half days every week. LOL

The prices are outrageous for what they charge a person. Our local provider tried to charge me $50 to get the Free Covid shot, so much for the we are in this together BS. It seems they could charge a fee so they did that but I was covered but they never checked or asked about it.

That's one factor but another huge factor was drs having more incentive to be part of a group instead of a private practice. Just the increase amd requirements to their various liability insurances drove them to either close shop or become part of a group.
Then factor in that group drs are put under so much restraints by the Healthcare group its nuts. Insane amount of patients need to be seen per day per week per month.

Reimbursement rates have increased.

This is all a result of Obama care.

Regardless if the Dr is part of a group or not they contract with an insurance carrier that Dr agreed to accept x amount of money for x service. The Dr can charge a million for a check up but they'll only get the amount they are contracted to get and write off the rest. Now if they're not contracted with your insurance they will accept the regional avg and can bill you the difference none of that difference counts towards your out of pocket maximum.
