Been trapping, hunting, fishing, camping for over 60 years. Not sure I could have lived any other way.

Been trapping every fall since I was a kid. Got no plans to stop or even slow down.

I started trapping in the mid 1960's at about 8 to 10 years old After the stock market /fur market crash in 1987 there was a couple years I did not trap at all and a couple more years I trapped very little .I had a small number of hides frozen in a freezer that I had bought for the sole reason that I wanted to trap but did not know where to find a place t sell my catch .I was able to learn of a fur sale being held by the state trappers association. That would have been in the mid 1990's So I set a line caught a good number and sold my catch that way And then I learned about NAFA &FHA. I set every year after that until 2021 and 2022 My health l has been slowing me down since about a dozen years ago I was able to get around most of the problems that are ongoing But lately it has come to a point that I am no longer certain that I can maintain even a small line with the confidence of being able to check my traps on a daily basis without someone helping me It was hard to cut back over the past 10 years But so long as could just accept setting less traps and going at a much reduced pace I was not pleased but willing to do what I had to do .I do not like to feeling of setting traps and worrying about how would I be able to run my line each day .I have a young friend in his mid 20's that I HAD HELPED OUT to get started into trapping about 7 years ago I sold him some used but good gear and shown him some things on set making location etc . I even went with him on his properties and pointed out sign and spots that would be good places for sets And I also told him of a few properties that he should approach about gaining permission. I am not yet 70 and if I could I would have been trying to add more properties for myself . Anyway the last 2 years he has been taking me out some days as he does his daily checking So I did not set the last 2 years and I have sold much of my gear And I am in the process of selling what remains which is still a good amount. I am not thrill with the situation But on the other hand I was able to have a trapline for about 55 to 60 years It really was a rewarding experience as far as how much satisfaction I gained from doing it A lifetime of adventure to me Certainly not a big money making endeavor But I had some years of very nice fur checks to add to the fun I took pictures over the years and I kept a notebook So even now I can look a certain year of property or season and see what how when and where I maintained my role as a trapper For all of you still able to do it don't wait for a better time find a way to make now the best time Once it is gone you will miss it .

I've only been trapping about 10 years. I tried not to trap one season but the first bobcat track I saw the challenge was accepted.

I wasn't able to get out last season due to health issues, but things have improved. God willing, I have every intention to trap this fall.

Still go out about 4 weeks a year in the Fall after coyotes. But as old age haunts me, I really have slowed down the last few years setting a lot less traps and putting less effort into it.

Home made bootleg version.
I did some research on netting and made my own traps for a third of the store bought version. There’s are nicer, but don’t work any better than mine.

I'm 68 and this was my 1st year trapping. Didn't have a clue as to how to even set a trap. I read everything y'all said especially Boco. I managed to catch 4 red fox, 1 Grey fox, 2 bobcats, 1 coyote, 25 raccoons, 15 possums. 2 squirrels and a mouse.

Started in 1966. Never have missed a year since.
Ran my ADC business from 1998-2015 at which time I retired.
Hit it very hard from 1975 through 1987.
Don’t trap no where near as hard or run as many traps as I used to.
Plan on trapping every year until I’m physically unable or I’m no longer breathing.

Where would one find the netting?
