Is spring the worst time of year for them down there too? By about July the numbers seem to go down a lot, and by November its very rare to see one again until late March or early April here.

Worst time is early fall, but I get 'em on me every month of the year.

I found 1 tick on me today, 2 ticks yesterday, 2 ticks Saturday, 1 tick on Friday and a few more earlier in the week. That's probably normal here for this time of year. All of the ticks got on me somewhere between my house and 5 barns.

This spring has been the worse I can remember, thankfully they are wood ticks not deer tick. I have been picking 15 or 20 a day for about a week.

Ticks being out is an understatement! Like was said though, at least they are the big ones.

Haven’t had a tick on me in years. Treat all my outdoors clothes with Sawyers. Pants, shorts, shirts, even socks. Give’em a spray down inside and out and let’em dry. If it’s a dry windy day they’ll get a double spray. Never had a reaction to my skin and even after multiple washings it apparently lasts. I do it every March and September. And yes, I’m in the woods in some capacity a good 330+ days a year.

Had an old beagle that would roam but the wife would pick ticks off and let home stay in the house. She did this religiously. Years after he passed I asked what’s the most you picked off in one night? …72. 72 ticks in one session. I think about 15 is the most I picked off myself.

I used "Permitherin" for the first time yesterday. I have always just picked them off and hoped I got them all but I had a can and just sprayed my pantlegs from the knees down and then walked to the pond. I got there and looked down and saw 3 ticks on me. After just a few seconds they started crawling DOWN my pants rather than up and in another couple of seconds they all fell off, apparently dead. I am a firm believer in this stuff now!

I have nothing clever to put here.

I also use permethrin. mostly to work my bees. put on rubber boots . spray boots and pant legs. seems to keep them from crawling up pant legs.. old243

You very well might have ehrlichiosis, a form of Lyme ..
Mine started out with severe joint pain .
I didn't want to go to the doctor, and ended up in the hospital ...
I was the sickest I've ever been in my life ..

You need to get on doxycycline immediately..!!
It will knock it out of you ..

DONT FOOL AROUND WITH THIS - it can have bad lasting effects..the longer you wait..

Its bad here. Went climbing for an afternoon with a buddy up Lolo pass. Easily 100 between the both of us. Hard to believe but ill get a photo next time. He described it as looking like a shotgun blast to the legs. Luckily, our dog ticks are big enough they dont hide well
