Diseases and History: from prehistoric times to Covid

Learned that current diseases were not always part of our history. Most appeared out of nowhere, often from filth, animals, rodents, pest, etc. Many were transferred to us directly from non human sources and some were spread human to human. Heredity is covered as well. Inbreading was a problem in European countries.

After reading the book, the evolution of Covid seems normal in the history of human diseases. Our grandchildren will likely be faced with illnesses that do not exist today. The threat is even greater because we are so mobile. In olden days, soldiers carried diseases to foreign land and brought new ones home. The same for sailors. Now they travel on airplanes.

I recommend the book to anyone interested in expanding their knowledge in this area. An eye opener.
