you can put a touch of gas in the bottle to rinse the last of the oil out then pour it all in the tank

I use the mercury quicksilver oil I buy by the gallon it is 8 ounces for 100:1 and 16 ounces for 50:1 on 6 gallons

I have a 6 gallon tank and I keep a spare 6 gallon can opposite the tank next to the battery

my 1991 Mariner / Yamaha 25hp is supposed to be 100:1 but I recall there being some issues with guys actually running 100:1 back then so I run 75:1 and it is going strong and not fowling any plugs either.
the bottle doesn't have a 75:1 but it is the middle between 100:1 and 50:1 for me 12oz per 6 gallons of gas is 75:1

we have only gone through the 6 gallon main a few times but once on the Mississippi middle of the channel 2 miles down stream from the launch and once running to weigh in on an all night tournament.

for the mercury oil which seems to be very standard

anyone besides me see the mistake on this chart ????

25:1 should be 6 oz
or 50;1 2.5 oz
Then if you multiply across well just forget that lol

Mercury's chart stolen from the amazon picture for the oil

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Actually 25:1 is 5.12 and 50:1 is 2.56.

Guss, 50 to 1 mix means you add 2.56 ounces of oil per gallon of gas. Got 5 gal of gas? Just do the simple math 2.56x5=12.8 ounces of oil. That's it.

Like you, I run the older outboards and want to make them last.

Go to Wal-Mart and buy one of those mixing bottles like has been mentioned in this thread. Will cost under 5 bucks.

Or do like Yukon Jeff said; empty a 16oz can of TCW 2 Evinrude oil into 5 gallons of gas. It'll make the gas a little oil rich but that won't hurt a thing. I been running 2 stroker outboards for over 50 years and never heard of one blowing up because there was too much oil in the gas. The most that could happen is that you'd foul a plug and plugs are cheap.

That 9.9 Evinrude is a good old motor. Keep good mix of oil in it and check on the impeller every year and it will last a long time.

I can remember a gas pump at a Marina that sold premixed fuel. That was in the 70s. Atlantic Beach, NC.

Yeah, I remember that. The premix always scared me. I always carried a 6 pac of Merc or OMC oil and did my own mixing, just bought their gas. I sold my big boat in the early 90s and haven't bought gas from a dock in years.
