You can rest assured, if we stopped buying licenses for a year, they would just triple the license fee next year to make up the loss. That's how this outfit operates. crazy

Won't make a difference anyhow. The real money isn't in the hunting/fishing licenses anymore...and the DNR knows this. Self admitted, their new focus is on school groups, bird watchers and hikers. These people have money...real money ...and they don't like things being killed. This is only the start.

Turtles are a new thing : A few years ago the DNR bought 6 miles of prime real estate on both sides of a river that I fish close to the cities. That's a LOT of money around here. It's main purpose: It's been deemed a "Turtle Sanctuary". It's illegal to step foot off the river onto any land or sandbar along those 6 miles due to nesting turtles. Yet, coon, possum, and otter tracks litter the banks. I guess a pile of coon isn't the problem but a guy with a fishing rod is. Makes perfect sense to the DNR, though.

"Fur trapping is on it's way out here in MN...and soon". This statement was told to me by a recently retired DNR biologist.
