Has anyone run into a bed camera interference issue when putting a topper on a newer truck?
In the past I’ve had Lund, LEER and A.R.E. toppers- last truck was A.R.E and it met my needs fine. Just bought a 2023 King Ranch that has a Bed Light and Bed Camera (as shown in pic)- looking at it after the fact, I thought why wouldn’t a topper at cab height block the camera- online searches revealed that LEER in fact does block the camera so individuals went with A.R.E. This morning I went to an A.R.E. dealer and the customer experience was atrocious- he said he guesses it would also block the camera, I told him for $3,700 – I didn’t want to guess, I asked if they can reroute the camera inside the topper- he said they don’t do that. I need to do more due diligence and I plan to call other dealers but in lieu of a tonneau cover has anyone overcome this issue without losing camera functionality?

possibly something like this
https://www.camerasource.com/produc...hicle_type_new=5953&year_filter=6286

I did a little search and it looks like several people are thinking move the factory lens to a 3d printed mount on the back of the topper

people who have figured out how seem a lot fewer

Make sure you get the side widows that flip up and not slide!! The sliding windows freeze up and get dirt in the tracks and are inconvenient......jk

My Ram with Leer top blocks the bed cam, you think they'd sell a cable to relocate it.

most definitly

my first topper had none my second topper I ordered with one flip up window and one slider

my current topper has flip up all around it is definitely the way to go

if you need a vent for a dog or something adding roof vents that don't let rain in are the way to go

These are some nice looking toppers- not yet available in my box size but coming soon... thanks for the research, very helpful.
Tomorrow I'm getting my Bedliner sprayed by an autobody shop that is also a Leer Dealer- I plan to pick his brain on potential workarounds. It's not the end of the world but you hate to lose any functionality at todays truck prices frown

I understand it's use with an open bed but of what use is a bed camera when the bed is enclosed via the topper?

Not a bed camera but I changed out the rear bumper on my F250 and 3 D printed a bracket that now holds the backup camera just above the number plate having the tow ball in its sights.I am sure the same can be done with a bed camera....... Though using a camera to look into a bed sounds kinky to me
usually the camera uses 4 wires. A positive and negative .... usually red and black and the video feed .... in my case white and yellow ..soe extending the wires is no bid deal either depending where you want to relocate it too.
