Seems low to me. drive a tractor on todays roads 15 miles there and back. If not, get a truck and trailer big enough to load the tractor and tiller. then he is tilling who knows what kind of soil and rocks and chunks of wood etc.. His equipment, transportation, time - $250 is too low priced.

that said - $250 will buy you a backpack sprayer, glyphosate and quite a bit of food plot seed and fertilizer..........why till?

Why till it Sarge?
That really dries out the soil and brings up millions of dormant seeds.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo

You have to remember that 1 out of 3 Democratic Voters is just as dumb as the other two.

In 1st low I till in with my 6' tiller it is very slow. Especially if it has not been tilled befor or in many years its hard on equipment. I guess ask can you find anyone to come out and do it cheaper, will they show up, is there another option for you such as renting equipment what's that cost, how far is it and how much time and fuel will you have into it.

For me I don't have time to do anything between working my job and taking care of the farm and family. Heck I have even been having the oil changed in my wife's van and likely will have t hem do breaks and roaters next time at dealer prices. Sure I can do it cheaper but I don't have time. My tractor is broke my sise by side is broke and so is one of my extra vehicals. It's worth it to me to pay and get it done.

What's the guys time worth, how much will his equipment cost and expenses be, can he make that or more in the same time somewhere else? It may sound high at first but may be cheap.

[quote=bblwi]Below is what I was using for my thoughts. This is an average of what custom operators were charging last year for various services. I realize that these prices seem low and may not include fuel. In the past that was indicated. Also there are usually several acres involved and not just an acres.

https://farms.extension.wisc.edu/articles/estimating-custom-rate-for-2023-wisconsin-farm-operations/

An acre is 212 by 212 square feet. If the person is using a 5 foot tractor powered rotor tiller he will make about 42 passes doing it once. That is about $6 per pass, or $3 per pass if two times. It may be your best deal you have available, but in mly opinon still high. Yes you can compare it to owning the equipment etc. etc. But it still needs to be planted, rolled or crushed and seed purchased and some weed control if desired.

Hard to compare a food plot to an actual multi acre field.
