next thing you know you will have dry box packed with extracts , seasonings and other items to spice up the staples onboard
how about some breaded and fried fish , that sounds good

Fry bread. Flour, baking powder, salt and water.(and some grease to fry it in) Good bush food for hundreds of years. The canoe brigades 150 years ago made their frybread in the pan after frying their salt pork. Frybread with a thick slice of fried baloney keep you going all day, almost as good as pemmican. That sounds like touton bread in Newfoundland.

So has Wolfie been upgraded to cook on the boat, or do they take turns? Or out of self interest and preservation, does one step forward and volunteer for that duty?

I was going to suggest fry bread today.Boco is correct. You can sprinkle it with cinnamon sugar and honey.

lots of canned fruit then definitely cobbler and or hand pies if you have the lard or shortening to make crust , also if you have the oil/lard doughnuts are also an option

one very simple cobbler recipe is cup-a-cobbler
cup of sugar , cup of flour (self rising ) , cup of milk to make a batter scale it up 2 cups of each to a 30oz can of fruit is about right
stick of butter or shorting in the skillet melted
add batter , put fruit on top it settles in , bake about 350ish for around 30 minutes
pears were my favorite and drizzle the syrup from the can over it all and bake , it is like a custard with fruit.
I do it in a big skillet
well did it , I don't eat sugar any more

Take your drop biscuits and add some raisins and call them scones , They'll think they're eating fancy, lol
Fry bread, biscuits, scones, all variations of the same thing, can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner depending what you put on , or in them.....,

I make "Hardtack" with flour,,water and salt.No baking powder.I make Pemmican also.Hardtack and Pemmican can keep you going for a VERY long time.
