Y'all got any recipes for some decent baked goods if your low on ingredients? Got plenty of flour and sugar both brown and white , butter but not extracts like vanilla and didn't think to add any to the shopping list . We still have some boxed stuff ( muffin mix and some cake stuff basked my first cake the other day, a red velvet that I think cam out decent) But that stuff is....egh I mean they happily eat it but I can feel my grandma staring down at me with shame for feeding people boxed baked goods ( she baked all the stuff for church and she was like me with traps and guns but with cakes wink )

Anyhow what y'all got ?

Sugar cookies

You got the basis for pastry and pie crusts if you had a filling.

Got eggs you can make custard but that usually calls for a splash of vanilla.

Make them dump cake if you have any canned fruit or pie filling.

1 can fruit pie filling
1 cup butter
1 box white or yellow cake mix

Dump fruit in pan and spread
dump dry cake mix over top evenly
dump butter over cake mix

bake 325 till cake mix browns

serve with whipped cream or ice cream ( Carmel if apple)

If you keep canned apple pie filling and some frozen pie crusts you could make fried apple pies super easy. Or make pie crust and fresh apples with cinnamon sugar and egg wash then fry

Wife just informed me you can replace vanilla extract with equal amount of bourbon. And I thought she was a good Christian girl, lol.

Southerners will always eat biscuits. With or without the gravy. Everyday.
Good pie or cobbler never gets thrown out.
Those guys start putting on pounds, they'll blame it on you though.

Sounds like you're making yourself a home there on the boat. Finding someone who's a decent cook and doesn't mind doing it isn't easy to come by.

When you order. You should consider boxed brownie mix like Pillsbury and put walnuts in it.

Cake mix and a can of coke (various cokes and cake mix). Just those 2 ingredients mix and bake according to box.

Make sugar cookies.
If you have chocolate and oatmeal make no bake cookies.
If you have nuts make a brittle or candy nuts.
Carmel is easy to make but can be dangerous.
Soufflé can be made with few ingredients.

Most vanilla extract is made with vodka the vanilla beans sit in vodka for 6+ weeks. Shake every week.

If you have evaporated milk pralines are a possibility, not really a baked good but I bet they’d eat it.

The only scratch biscuit recipe you’ll ever need whether you top them with strawberries or gravy or just butter. This is a recipe you can 2x, 3x or however many times as you want.
2C flour
4tsp backing powder
1/2tsp salt
1/2 tsp Cream of Tarter
1 TB sugar
1/2C butter (cut in to small pea size, no bigger/no smaller, makes them flaky and stand up high)
2/3C milk
Mix all together but jut! Too much mixing/kneading will make them tough! cut 1” thick, & bake 10-12 min at 450*

Fry bread.
Flour, baking powder, salt and water.(and some grease to fry it in)
Good bush food for hundreds of years. The canoe brigades 150 years ago made their frybread in the pan after frying their salt pork.
Frybread with a thick slice of fried baloney keep you going all day, almost as good as pemmican.
