I’ve seen coons kill a lot of poultry. Fencing was 2x4” kennel fencing…..coon approaches the fence, birds stick their heads out, and coon grabs them by the head.

This bobcat was coming every night and scaring and killing a friends chickens. The chicken pen was constructed of 2" by 4" weldwire even over the top. The bobcat would run around scaring the chickens until they would get close to the side where it would reach in and catch one and pull it, in pieces, through the wire. I set a trap baited with a beaver leg and caught it that night.
