Same with trout , use less breading , never liked too much breading on anything.

… my goodness.. I didn’t intend for this to turn into a humanitarian mission… but y’all yanks need to understand that cornmeal is what you batter fish with … it’s like grits stuck to fish which in turn sticks to your ribs so a man can get a little work done

… I might end up going to heaven after all now lol

…. And I’m at a loss on what to do with these wiener water chugging eskimos other than to ask June to exorcise them or something?

Me too! I’d be offended if I was served that.

I’ve gone on a few fishing trips with others where some old guy filleted the fish and cooked them. They always left the bones in. Ruined my whole meal! Sitting there picking bones out every bite. Can’t even enjoy the food like that.

I don’t let others fillet or cook my fish any more. This my house!

All the ladies are like that.

Bout the only way I can eat trout. Either smoked or canned.
I really miss catching cats and having a good fish fry. Cornmeal, duck comander seasoning and hot oil.
Never caught any bream but bluegill and crappies were cooked the same way.

Looks like you gottem riled up real good, savell. I do love me a mess of fiddlers. As to the bones, when I get through eating them, you would have a perfect European mount for the wall; not a bone missing. And you won't see a head on one of them, either.

We catch a mess of channel cats out of my father-in-law's pond every summer to fry, but they run at about 5#s.
We skin them, fillet them and fry all three parts.
1) left side.
2) right side.
3) the backbone. (I call this one the "hillbilly filet.)

That way you don't waste any meat, and you don't have to worry about how close you are to the backbone when you fillet them.
I have to say that I really like the middle fillet the best. The backbone of a 5# cat stays in one piece so you don't have to worry about any stray bones.

Oh no...lol...Mom scaled and baked large northern Pike and 5lb walleyes, but Dad filletted everything, and only ate walleye or smoked sturgeon or whitefish.

Mom's dad hailed from Iowa....so....all fish were edible, bullheads in the spring fried whole
