No, none at all. We are required to check once every 96 hours, and even on extended checks I’ve never had an animal work it’s way loose due to the long chain. But I should add that most of the time in those situations I’m using a highly modified trap. Most of the time I’ll be setting either a Bridger #3, 4 coiled, outside laminated, baseplate/d-ring, bubble tipped jaws, beefed up rod dogs and night latched at about 3 pounds and a swivel every 6” for the first 2’ feet of chain, and one every 2 feet after, or a victor #4 double longspring, with all the same mods except the extra springs. The only traps I run stock are mb550s and I’ve never had a problem with them either.

Also, you can wrap wire around a rock to make an anchor.

I never drive stakes regardless of soil type. Bring in 4 foot logs and use same logs/drags year after year way easier.

Remember seeing a 3/4 nut drilled thru 2 ways so when you inserted a cable you ended up with 2 loops for anchoring to rocks check minktrapping.com or with Todd Strohecker
