Stones the size of boulders, skill level beyond belief, and maybe suicidal tendencies? This is labeled the fastest lap ever for the Isle of Man TT. However, I think Michael Dunlop beat it and now holds the record. Here's a lap for those of you that are interested and/or follow. I wish I had that skill level. Looks like all kinds of fun!

There have been fatalities (often multiple) every year of that race except for 1982. Its a crazy race that most professional drivers won't do.

That's what blows my mind. The course is 37.5 miles long. It has over 300 turns. In many places they are going over 200mph. First of all, how do you remember that? If you don't know EXACTLY where you are at, and what is coming up, you are not going to make it. Those turns are coming too fast to visually wait. You have to know it's coming. Secondly, you would really have to trust that bike. They are literally on the very edge of that bike sliding out from under them at that angle of lean. Lastly, the top riders like Michael Dunlop (is well known for this) use the entire corner. If you watch most of them leaving the corner, they are literally on the last 6 inches or so of pavement. One wrong move, and it's going to get ugly.

I believe top speed these days is around 212mph+

My question is how does one run a race like that and then maintain the speed limit on the drive home??

LOL... It would seem like slow motion after that. If you ever see any of the other videos, they use helicopters to film up on the plains where these guys really twist the throttle and these super bikes outrun the helicopters.

You'd load that bike on a trailer and let someone else drive home.

One thing about it, he had the open road. Looking at some of the other guys racing, they were all bunched up, if one bike goes down, you're in a bind.

I'm sure I'll never meet the man, but you know, for his own good. He'd better put his trophy on the wall, and park his bike. No doubt, he's on top of his game now, but as you get older, things slow down. Just a fact of life.

a discussion of reaction speed vs predictive behavior makes me think

that takes it out of reaction and into predictive for sure

your not reacting to the turn you see your remembering where the line is by ques leading up to the turn.

I am sure he has incredible reaction also to deal with the things that pop up like a rider in his way

I hit a deer on my bike going around 55mph. I didn't lay the bike down, but it got awfully squirrelly for a few seconds. Luckily, I didn't panic, hit the throttle, got the bike straightened out, and was able to keep control. I don't want to think about hitting another, let alone at a higher rate of speed. I do not think there are any large animals on that island, but then again, at those speeds, a house cat could kill you.

When they asked Valentino Rossi if he would take part in the else of man TT. He said " No way, do you think I am crazy ?? " Rossy is a 7 time world champion in moto GP lol

The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy race is just amazing. Very visceral and extremely dangerous. You have to be a bit crazy and have almost a deathwish to participate.

This video is neat , filmed at the legendary Sudby Straight. Fastest part of the track. Riders getting close to 200mph.

The best part of this video is the bikes are going by are moving so fast , it is hard to tell what color they are as they fly by.

Watch just part of the video , but see if you can tell what color the bikes are when they pass the camera.
