Nessy probably remembers this stuff.

Cragar....I’ve used and seen a lot of stuff for detailing paint...from Lacquer...Acrylic Enamel...straight enamel...to Base Coat / Clearcoat...

But I ain’t seen that product !

After all my years of trying different compounds and polishes...I have found the (Holy Grail ) set up..about 4 years ago. .to get the most out of any car paint, while using less product ,easier clean up in the jams, and a shine & Clarity like no other.

Nessy ,
Polyglycoat was a dealership applied paint protection product. One of those huge markup items just as the salesman were closing the deal. In 1980 it cost $250 to have a car done. That is over $800 in today's dollars.
Mega huge markup for the dealership like rustproofing which was popular at the time too.

These tubes are about 1980 vintage. One 17 gram tube is enough to do one car. The products claim was to last about 4 years without any other waxing and maintain a gloss. It did last considerby longer than a standard wax. However , it caused a bit of a nightmare for body guys when the car needed to be repainted. As it was loaded with silicone and embedded into the paint slowly releasing more to the surface. When car came in for repainting you would have to use massive amounts of PrepSol to get the stuff out or it would interfere with the paint job. This was the first multi-year paint protection product sold. Other companies came up with similar ideas to compete. Blue Coral had a product. I seen a white Toyota that a guy applied the Blue Coral product and got distracted by a phone call. Car was in direct sunlight. When he got back to the car to remove it , he could not. It was covered in blue swirls on a white car. Buffing it with a heavy compound did nothing. Car had to be repainted as the Blue Coral product went all the way down into the primer.

Polyglycoat got sued a bunch and went out of business in the early '90s.

Turtle wax once a month spring thru summer. In between I go to the car wash with the pressure sprayer and do the soap/rinse/wax.
In the winter it's a whole different ball game here with your vechile covered in salt everyday. At least once a week I go to the spray wand car wash that has hot water and blast everything down as thoroughly as I can

Adams ceramic coating products are what I have been using for my new truck. Cs3 is a spray on and wipe off after a wash that is super easy to use if one is looking for ease of use. Can go on windows and plastic trim too.

Other folks probably make something similar.

After doing some research, seems like ceramic coatings are becoming the craze. Anyone else try these? Bhugo what’s the reason for using Adams ceramic cs3 rather than wax? Just curious, thanks

The only thing I know about Wax is what you dip your Traps in. Now How do you ever dip a truck and how hot should the Wax be???

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Ceramic coatings are always applied to a perfect surface for best results.

Perfect surface..is a freshly compounded with a rotary buffer and then followed with an orbital buffah with a foam pad and polish to eliminate swirls.

Then a coat of ceramic is applied .

Griots garage sells a nice spray on ceramic.

They recommend 2 coats...24 hours apart
