Does it get any better? I think not.

He looks like a Dobbins, nice catch! I noticed that right away too. Fun day for the two of you.
I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

looks like he has some knife work to do , show him the first one coach him on a couple then let him go till he gets it right.
of course take over scaling and drink beer/wine and keep him company while he works , he will remember that a long time.
I still remember cleaning messes of fish with my dad and great uncle , we had to do a long time as scaler and show we could do a good job before we were going to work on the perch.
so when we spent a week at a cabin on a lake each summer I would be down fishing off the dock any time I wasn't out in the boat with my dad , eating or sleeping catch a few blue gill and rock bass , go to the cleaning station and fillet them for practice with no one watching to make me nervous. and repeat , get my mom to fry them up for supper.
good times to remember as he gets older

Get that young man into the lure shed. I expect my grandyounguns to be using Backbreaker and Woodchipper long after we've hung up our last trap.

Hand the younguns a spoon was how I learned the clean fish. When I got good at handing a scaled fish then dad showed how and let me have a knife.

Hand the younguns a spoon was how I learned the clean fish. When I got good at handing a scaled fish then dad showed how and let me have a knife. many hours scaling first ,but if I caught them and did them all myself I could screw up as many as I could catch. spoon or spine of the knife. he looks old enough to try some filleting we didn't have as many distractions as these young kids today have , so get them in the meat a little sooner so they don't loose interest in hours and hours of scaling
