We have a colony of these monsters living in a hole under the cement border of my wife's flower bed. She has been stung a few times and wants to get rid of them. I bought a yellow jacket trap. For bait, I used apple juice, sugar, and a piece of raw pork. But, they don't seem interested in it. So, I changed to straight Coke. That doesn't seem to work either.
I know some of you have had good luck with baiting them. Any suggestions?

I fill their entrance hole with sevin dust after dark.
Takes a few days but they eventfully disappear. This. Moosetrot

Go out at night and give a drink of gasoline...directly in the hole. This but I take it a step further…I do it during the daytime and light it on fire…I get a lot of satisfaction seeing them try to get back into the burning hole!

Caned chicken 10 oz 1/4 tsp of tarus sc mixed well.. put in wire cage so you don't kill anything unintentionally. I tried this for the first time this year and I can't get the bald face hornets or yellowjackets to go anywhere near it.
I have nothing clever to put here.

Mountain Dew is good bait for the traps but you are better off with the sevin down the hole after dark to eliminate the entire colony.

I have sprayed them with diluted Sevin and it only makes mad. The dust or powdered sevin works because they carry it on their legs into the nest and poisons all of them instead of the few that you sprayed.

Wife put it out because I was away working. I didn't see any when I was in the goat pen today. I did see 2 when butchering chickens today. Guys hers say it should take care of them for a larger area. I was not home to watch ans see then get the bait. Plan o. Putting some more out in other places an dhope I get them before they get thick like they always do in August. Thay really like the sugar water then when I'm feeding my bees.

A fellow at my hunting club would often mix Sevin and pancake syrup together on paper plates. Can’t say that it worked. Sounds like a good way to kill honey bees. Anything sweet will attract then. I would rather have the yellow jackets than kill off my hives. That's why I like the chicken. Bees aren't attracted to it like sweets.

This morning I put canned chicken into the trap with Mountain Dew and set it next to the hole they've been going in and out of. They aren't interested in the least. The hole is horizontal on the ground making it impossible to shoot wasp killer very far into it. I might have to try Sevin or permethrin in the entrance. Someone suggested wait until dark and then with a garden hose fill the hole up with water to drown them.
