A big platter of grilled lambchops and some ouzo to wash it down was a regular order for me back in the day.

I take lamb anyway but pass on the mutton.

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Goat is good. It's more mild than lamb. It's between lamb and venison in flavor.

What haggis I've eaten was good, kind of like a spiced meatloaf. Couldn't say if it was mutton, lamb or what.

I had lamb for the first time in my 63 years about two weeks ago. I didn't enjoy it.

Not enough ketchup in the world to make that edible! I'll take lamb over that any time.

if your ever in Milwaukee near Oakland Ave stop and have the Gyro platter at Oakland Gyros , they also have a location on Layton just north of the air port fairly easy access from I94 , I haven't sat down there but have used the drive through at a couple minutes to close and it was good.

my daughter lives a little off Oakland , one of my favorite places to eat in Milwaukee.

??? There is plenty of lamb available in Wisconsin. The fastest way to destroy any lamb dish is to overcook it. Mutton can be hit and miss, depending on feed stuffs and age. Secret here is low heat and added moisture. Take my word for it, stay away from an old ram.

American lamb has better muscling than New Zealand or Aussie lamb. But they are catching up as they crossbred American generics for muscle and away from traditional wool production.

We take some of our ewes and lambs to an Equity Auction barn in a town called Lomira WI, about 20 miles south of Fond du Lac right off Hwy 41. They sell sheep, lambs and goats the last Saturday of the month. Last year we went and there were 840 head on the auction. We are taking a group down again this Saturday. Over half we sell live right off the farm.

I have had lamb (just under a year old) and I have had goat cooked on the ground, slow cooked over coals.
I could not swallow that "lamb". The more I chewed, the bigger it got.
The goat was delicious.
My mind was not right to be expecting to enjoy either one prior, but I was really surprised that I enjoyed the goat as much as I did. I was expecting the lamb to be better than the goat. It clearly was not.

Dang guys you have me worried now. Just got home from a 4-H auction where I bought a lamb. I have never had much lamb. I have had gyro meat in a omelet, I was not that impressed with that but it was edible. I have also had it as lamb hot dogs and lamb hamburger. I absolutely loved both of those.

Yup. Plus how it's prepared. Both can be really good or terrible there's no middle ground. I've had Lamb and sheep here, in various states, Israel and turkey

Gyro meat is a blend of lamb and beef. Kind of a greek spam.
