Depends on the critter, #4 doublelongspring and 330 for beaver and otter, not too particular on brand, Blake and Lamb is my preference on the #4s, I really like the old Newhouses of course, but they are actually a pain to set because you can't break them over your knee like the other brands. 120's for marten. If I was buying coyote traps I'd buy the NoBs canine extremes, but I haven't needed to buy any since those came out, so I don't own any. I have some old 3Ns that don't see practically any use since wolves moved into the country, if I'm setting a coyote trap I want it to hold a wolf if it happens to step into it. So I've got some MB 650s and if I'm making a set where I really figure there is much possibility of a wolf I am liable to set a 750 or a 4 1/2. Wolves, well we have to go with our budget, I like the looks of the Koro the most, and the AK 9 and 76 Lay are great traps also, but they are out of my price range. The big NoBs Wolf Extreme is still pretty spendy, but a good trap. I am mainly using modified TS85s and Duke 850s though, I'm real happy with those traps for the money.

Always liked the Northwoods traps for land trapping, #1.75, 2, 3 and BMI 160. My all time favorite is the MB650ILOL for coyote and the occasional wolf. Duke 1.5s and #11ls for water. Beaver are the CDR, Bridger 5ls and BMI 330.
Would I like to have NoBS and Belisle traps sure?? But ^^^these^^° are what I got and they work just fine for me see no need to replace them.

For conventional coyote sets, I think the little Montana #3s or modded up Montgomery traps are my favorite.

Had a fellow trapper call me about a nuisance beaver job he was doing. He said he was trying to catch the beaver at the dam, but the beaver kept pushing his trap into the dam. His trap was a #4 double long spring. Asked me what I would do? He was trying drown the beaver with a drowning clip on a cable attached to a sack of rocks. Problem was it was a swampy area and he would had to carry rocks in.
I told him with a #4 long spring, he should go for a front foot catch on that set up. Or, I would borrow him one of my CDRs and a drowning rod. Since he said the water was clear, I told him to camouflage the trap with grass or whatever was available. Then go for a back foot catch. He had never used a drowning rod before.
He called me two days later and said he got the beaver the first night by the back foot and would I be interested in selling him the CDR and the drowning rod? I said no, but he could borrow it anytime he wanted.

Around these parts, there is currently an enhanced nutrition project for juvenile and adult buzzards underway, utilizing chicken killing coons as the food source.
Two big winners are cages and Belisle 160 set in a vertically oriented box. Both set inside barn. That 160 is an easy to set, easy to trip hammer.

I like my MB550's and ALPHA'S for coyote, Northwoods 1.75's for fox and raccoon and Belisle's for body grips. I know their may be better traps out their but these work good for me for the moment.

Favourite trap? I’d have to pick one of the old Duke? 330s I got from my wife’s great uncle. I’m not sure how many beaver he got with it, but out of all my 330s it’s got the most catches. Springs are a little weak cuz it’s easy to set. I painted one of the spring eyes yellow. My buddy calls it “killer”. He’s not so good at picking nick names…lol. I’ve got much better BGs, leg holds & snares, but that one would have to be my favourite. Alotta history behind it too.

Now that I have your attention… what’s your favourite trap? Haha.
Hilarious, I wondered for a second..... Duke 1 1/2 coil, for all purpose trap....CDR 7.5 foothold for beaver and otter.

Newhouse #114.
For actual use, a Newhouse #1 (original Newhouse) or a Belisle 120.
