They're a prehistoric species in a class of their own, called Deciduous Conifers, they have small seed cones, but the leaves will turn brown and drop off in winter to regrow in the spring. The Bald Cypress is a member and is found in Mo, especially in the swampy bootheel, but they do well as far north as St. Louis in yard plantings.
