I started trapping muskrats in 1968 when I was in the 6th grade. I had my wicker pack basket and was way more interested in trapping than school. Missed some years because of work or life, but always thought about trapping. I always sold green skinned or carcass until I retired a few years ago and built a fur shed with a skinning machine and started putting fur up. Now I just have fun with it but always make sure to get my otter limit for here.

I'm in no way picking on old or actually disabled folks--I get that maybe you couldn't get out. I am just curious as to who actually traps on Tman. For many it's obvious that you do. For others, I wonder.

I do every year going back to my youth. It maybe only 2 to 4 sets a year and 90% water trapping.

Started in 1963! Have only completely missed two years since. 1970&71 due to being in Vietnam. Do not hit it like I have in the past due to back and knee problems. Still pester the coon, coyotes and cats. Roy

All but 3 of 48 years since 1974. Some years more, and some less, depending on price and family and work commitments. Do not intent to stop as long as market gets no worse for some species. Pointless for 'rats and mk (we do not have coon or yote but they seem also pointless for most too) at the moment but others not quite so bad. Not getting into secondary processing like Boco and some so successfully have. Nil ADC work here as govt takes it. Would like to see govt get out of it and leave to us.
Try to kill a few seals every year to eat too but pelts are pitched as long time since they were worth anything.

I used to trap a lot more than I do now. At my age, the mind says, GO! The body says, NO! I did a couple beaver nuisance jobs last year and I teach a class on trapping during our firearms training classes. It's been so popular with the kids, I've been doing it for about 15 years now.
With the US so divided, I'm just glad to be on the side that believes in God, has the most guns, and knows which restroom to use.

Started in 81-82 ,had some years that allowed for trapping. Some years, not so much. Land access is playing a role, in it presently.
