Don't want to dis anyone's favorite cartridge, but I don't see any advantage of the .300 WSM over the .300 Win Mag. I think the latter has the advantage of easy availability of rounds and cases.

The short magnums are said to be very accurate, but so is my Ruger M77 .300 Win Mag. Its only disadvantage is the round's short neck, which may not get a good grip on the bullet.

Shorter action, lighter weight rifles and same ballistics without the recoil of a 300WM, what's not to like ?

Been shooting one since they came out also.
Bought tons of brass and bullets for reloading years back.
See brass on occasion at gun shows and the sporting goods store in town, ammo is available up here too.

I would take my 338 federal up against any of them, 338 bullets are easy

to find and 308 casings are super easy to find

It's my buddys beautiful sako only been shot a hand full of times and hall he has is a old box of rounds. Told him if he goes 50/50 and lets me hold on to the rifle I'll load him some up.

I have ruger, they only chambered that rifle a couple of years

She is light and what some would call a mountain rifle

The trigger is crisp and maybe 3 pounds

Pleasant to shoot but it ain't a 243

I've got a Sako Finnbear in 300 WM. I wouldn't describe it as pleasant to shoot. It's shootable but you better have a hold of it especially off a bench. Not sure I'd like to shoot it prone very much. That's shooting 200 grain bullets. Not sure if 150s or 160s would calm it done any.

Fact I wouldn't hunt with it unless I really felt I needed that much energy to ethically do the job. Much rather shot the 7mm rem mag for longer range practice. But it does have a brake to calm it some.

I don't find the .300 WM has a lot of recoil compared to my heavy rifles. I can usually shoot twenty or so rounds of the .300 before beginning to flinch, but I can only shoot three accurate shots from my .416 Rem Mag.

I hate muzzle brakes. Some rifles come with them now, but I won't use them.

I can notice a difference in recoil in the 300 WM vs. WSM. 300 wsm is noticeably less. Don’t get me wrong, I love both guns, and enjoy shooting them both. Some guys like to stick with one gun in the safe. I enjoy buying new guns, and working up loads for them. Most would say I have too many, but I still don’t have enough grin

Can you tell me a good store in America where you can buy 308 caliber brass for reloading ?
