In the short term, I don't think there will be any improvement. In my area coons and opossums are the 2 furbearers that are the easiest to catch huge numbers of followed by coyotes, skunk, mink and fox. If I don't trap coons on my farm, they quickly become a nuisance. I don't like pitching coons, but until they are worth at least $25.00, they aren't worth putting up for me.

I am a little less optimistic in what it will take to change the market. at no other point in history did people cloth themselves primarily in crude oil based fabrics so extensively while calling natural warm sustainable fur and wool unethical and spewing so much hate around it. I fear that things are so upside down it will take a collapse to make fur relevant again to the major consumer markets.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

It's going to be years to see good prices for fur. The market is flooded with leftovers coon.. A lot of those will be discarded in favor of fresh goods.

A lot of those will be discarded in favor of fresh goods. Yeah, people say that but where are all these large numbers of leftover coon hides hanging out, in the back of Groeny's big warehouse or up in some coolers at FHA...? Or processed and hanging out in China, Cambodia, or even Russia?? When was the last year where a million coon were offered somewhere for sale, I suspect it hasn't happened at FHA at least for a good while.
