I started out at 13 years old with a single 1.5 Victor coil spring that hung on a nail on the wall of the garage at my childhood home. No one in my family trapped but my dad knew how to set it that was about it. I started catching squirrels around the neighborhood then the following year I spend my birthday money on five more Duke 1.5s, a 110, two 220s, and two 280s. The rest is history!

I started later in life when a coyote attacked a lamb through the fence in the lambing yard. First traps were a dozen #3 victor softcatch ... Cable restraints weren't yet allowed at that time.

I started trapping very late in life, because of my service in the military. I used FB DPs and Duke 1.5s. Never regretted catching coons and possums. I love to trap it is beyond cathartic for me.

Christmas of 1975 my parents bought me 3 or 4 No.1 Victor stop losses.I was thrilled, but I had no idea what the bale on the trap was for.It didn't help that one of them rode up so high it was right tight under the pan shank when set, with that tension pushing against the pan I could have stood on it and it wouldn't have went off,let alone A muskrat! I ended up taking a hack saw and cut the bale off all of them.

My first trap, bought with my money, was a 0 jump spring that I still have. Took some hair off a few fox squirrels but never caught and help anything that I can remember
