Just read this in American Trapper. Doesn’t the DNR do game population studies and base their hunting tag availability on that? Or do the powers that be not care because it mentions that science is being discarded? A few pages before I see this…. ![[Linked Image]](https://trapperman.com/forum/attachments/usergals/2023/08/full-56418-185927-img_0219.jpeg) I see a bright future in the coming years for the skilled trappers in New Mexico!

They are already there.... no reason to introduce more trouble. That’s what the ranchers and others said. I’d think the DNRs game studies would support this too.

Tree Huggers got them introduced in Wisconsin and are the ones that keep fighting the control of the population of them. Even Farmers are subject to allowing them to feed on the Cattle or be prosecuted.
God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Read in too = Grey Wolf Projects New Mexico. They spent over a million on a = disaster of a project! I read it a long time ago. Cant sware to every detail but something like. They tried to locate Grey Wolf dens and add captive raised Grey Wolf pups to the den. IF you can find it. Read about that mess

I also read where they are going to release some captive red wolves In NC. It sounds like NC has a red wolf population now. I guess they feel they have to Increase the numbers.

I love having wolves on the trapline. They are beneficial to wildlife if kept in balance thru management. Extremely harmful and destructive if not.
Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

Chris, more than a few in NC according to my sources. I don’t doubt the #. Its just = they want to move them down south?? Nope. Deep South Southern wont stand for that. They will just kill them

[/quote]You really think you can catch wolves in cage traps? Why use a cage? When they hire a guy to deal with a problem, the rules sometimes change. I was happy to see more tracks on the line last weekend. Let the games begin.

I haven't read the article but yes seizures are done frequently. There's no hunting wolves here. It's depreciation tag only. We have strict rules if we trap one. Trapping is only allowed on private land or unless your native. The antis keep winning here unfortunately. The wolves originally placed in the Gila have expanded their territory mainly north and west.

DNR's for the most part are not in our favor anymore. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Any apex predator that's not properly managed is a agenda. Plain and simple, were gettin screwed.
I wonder if tap dancers walk into a room, look at the floor, and think, I'd tap that. I wonder about things.....

Our Game and fish is incredibly pro hunter trapper angler. If I remember right it was the feds and anti's that brought them. Our new game commissioner has done and said some very questionable stuff.
Our houndsmen are now in jeopardy. I should make a thread on that but have not really studied it. I do know 200+ anti's have submitted questions and comments for a new proposed rule

I guess they don’t show up at your conventions either? Most places I know of, we’re on the same team, and after talking to one yesterday they’re a good source for info, and stuff that’s getting approved, local goings on…etc.
