My parents ashes are at 10000' in Wyoming. There were flowers growing there at the time but not now.
Any suggestions for a flower I can seed there that might grow? Thank you

I would suggest seeding only existing natives so as not to be introducing possible invasive species. Was just at 9000+ in the Gallatans a saw many kinds of wild flowers that high. Wild columbines, paintbrush, dwarf sunflower, lupines and many others that we don't have in MN. All high alpine natives. Maybe you could collect wild seed(don't know local laws so check) or check with local native seed sellers. Not everything that could grow there should.

I've learned enough thru the years to now know that I don't know enough. KNOWLEDGE IS FREEDOM.

Plant some Grapevines!! Those things will grow ANYWHERE and flower nicely in the spring.

God please keep they 19 fallen UBB miners out of trouble up there.

Please don't introduce non native plants into places like that.
Lupines are a great suggestion. The native ones I'm familiar with are blue. I see they now have cultivated lupines in various colors. These might be compatible in that area.
What grows there now?

It takes a lot of energy for a plant to flower. In harsh, micro-climates, like 10,000 feet in the mountains, the conditions necessary for a plant to successfully flower aren't always met. The seeds, in the seed bank and likely even the plants themselves that flower, are still there. Once the necessary conditions are met, there should be flowers there again.

I have property at high elevation Wy. and would offer this advice. Seed with native flowers and maybe the best thing get seed in the same location or transplant. Also you say there were flowers there at the time you left your folks but not now. was your visit the same time of year within a couple weeks? We have had a lot of drought and fires which could play a role in what is there now. All things including the composition of vegetation change over time for a lot of reasons. What mother nature put there is best left to her, next couple years it will be different again maybe.

Thanks guys. I'm very familiar with invasive species and would not do that.
