Many years ago a flock of geese flew over our wood duck hole and a buddy shot one. He went to retrieve it and decided to leave his gun. I told him I thought he just winged it and he may need it and he replied something about being a man and could take care of the goose.

We knew exactly when he found it and the fight lasted for a good 5 minutes with quite a bit of manly screaming and several cuss words thrown in. He eventually prevailed and came back with that goose. He had bruises on his arm and apparently the goose got ahold of his face and bit. He had a big welp with a little bit of blood on his cheek.

He said of all the fights he’s ever been in that that goose topped them all and it was one he almost lost! We laughed for so long and so hard, we could barely make it out of the swamp ourselves.

To this day that joker WILL NOT shoot geese. I don’t care if an entire flock lands in front of him, he’s waiting for ducks!!

My grandfather and I found a swan that was frozen into the ice on a lake while we where skating and we got it out by chipping away at the ice around it legs. That swan did not appreciate our help at all and both of us ended up with a bunch of bruises and I had a cracked rib. In the end we ended up pulling the seat cover of the back seat on my grand fathers VW beetle and wrapping that devil of a bird into that tied up with string and once we had out of the ice we put it in the car and drove around with the heater on full to melt the ice around its feet. As far as we know, it made a full recovery and so did we. We must have looked two right dorks driving around while I had this swan bundle in front of me on the passenger seat holding onto its beak for dear life . we looked pretty eat up and wet when we got home and grandma was in tears with laughter as I was yesterday when we told hoer how we got not the state we were in.

Let's go Brandon
