Do any of you buy bulk filters vs name brand? If so, any issues? Or are they as good as long as you change them regularly and use quality oil.
I quess the same can be said for air filters.

Almost $30 to change air, oil filter and oil on my husqvarna. Has to be a way of buying decent filters vs name brand.

I use the cheap aftermarket filters. As long as they're the same specs and you change oil regularly, I've had no problems.

ergo, bibamus.

I just cross reference the filters for my John Deere and buy Wix or Napa. One of the local parts stores has a big sale once a year on wix filters. I try to get what I need for the year. Im comfortable with wix or napa...not comfortable with all the off brand filters. Im sure some are fine....until theyre not.

also a WIX/napa

I was at an O'reilly and their house filter micro guard is also a wix you see it when you look at the numbers they do MGL or MSL and the wix number.
I was needing a filter on a sunday afternoon and figured well I will just buy a wix guy at the counter said , house brand microguard is just a rebranded wix like the napa you typically buy.

a wix filter 51042 and a MGL51042 both fit a 2004 GMC 1500 with a 4.8l but one is about half the price.

I always ran CarQuest, which is also wix, but moved and lost my 1/2 price filter discount. now usually Napa gold, I don’t know if there non gold filters are wix or not. Why would oreilly sell the exact same filter in different packaging, sounds like the Napa silver line if they are still around.

Sign of the times, it's all high. Be thankful your machine doesn't have 2 each of all the filters, and holds 5-1/2 gallons of oil.

I was leaning towards wix. Always have used them and no issues. Thanks for your help.
