Yeah, the Fudds are ready to sell out on black guns, suppressors and anything else that doesn't look like grandad's squirrel gun.

The 2A is not about hunting.

It's a derogatory term referencing the cartoon character Elmer Fudd.

Calling someone a Fudd originally meant that person sucked at hunting but it has evolved to mean a gun-owning hunter or target shooter who takes a dim view of tactical type weapons or any non-sporting weapons.

so we went looking at guns at a shop yesterday

my son was thinking they had a S&W 36-2 jframe in online inventory he is thinking bug gun match would put him in "classic division" could be fun and very few people run classic so we go look guy has to go grab it from the back.

well it is a 36-2 blued , but it has a home hammed bob job , a goofy belt clip like protrusion right grip panel then I see deep scratches on the cylinder , I go to open the crane and it just doesn't feel right the latch is overly tight then the crane catches

toss in it has near browning on the back strap rather than bluing from all the times it rusted and got buffed with steel wool

hard pass but as we are walking away my son says that is the most FUDD gun ever

fudd-lore dictates wheel guns are superior because they work every time , nothing to go wrong , haa haa
also never carry without a holster unless it is a wheel gun then go right ahead and use a protrusion on the grip pannel to hook it in your belt , but wait you dropped it an scratched it up and bent the crane , because it popped out of your near gangster style tucked in the belt carry form. then unloaded it at a shop.

"rules for thee, but not for me" as my son puts it

bobbed hammers have a place
even the grip panel belt protrusion has a place (a very narrow place but a place)
5 j-frame revolvers have a place (1st rule guns as the kids put it )

all of it and that the bob job looks like it may have been done without removing the hammer it was poorly taken care of and eventually dropped and broken brings it into the fudd realm

a fudd excessively judges others on how it is supposed to be done while having a high level of hypocrisy in the things they do , when examined . you must arrive at the proper looking solution to any problem as they dictate it.

function or performance is not enough

your rights be dammed

also if you watch the video , hitting the nail on the head of not explaining the details of , but rather just rejecting anything that they deem not correct.
"NO" people , no your doing it wrong , no that's not right , too much , too little
without specifying a target

often also adding some level of X is superior to all others because , well because
and making some sort of statement based on an untested belief that fits their narrative

like JOE saying ," all you need is a double barrel shotgun!" then making a statement that is just so absurd and even illegal but honestly believing it is gospel on how it should be done , even if it only works under the very specific circumstances of their place and status if that even.

Anything but a Fudd here but consider my myself a classicist appreciating and valuing the old arts of blued steel and walnut.

To me Fudd means one who is at best worthless to the 2A cause being of the mindset of not rising to defend that which he/she may not care for or at worst actively campaigning against those things not like him/her.

Basic bigotry in action.

I hate that mindset, the same as I hate the trappers who would oppose snares (looking at you Georgia Trappers Association), hound hunters who would oppose trappers, bow hunters vs gun hunters, anyone who would oppose dog hunters, etc..

I figure I'm walking a fine line.

The old Fudds get mad when we're shooting AR pistols.
And the high speed, low drag, tier one Operators get mad when we're shooting blackpowder revolvers.
Especially if they are down wind.

So.thinking I'm in the sweetspot, lol

Flintlock guys dont like people hunting with in-lines. Traditional archers dont like people using compounds and crossbows. Slug guys dont like buckshot and both dont like straightwall rifle hunters. Treestand guys dont like deer hounds. I say fill your freezer any way thats legal and dont worry about your neighbor. Deer hunting as competition is a sorry thing promoted by magazines and TV. Its harmful to every consumptive user of wildlife.

While I have no desire to ever hunt with a black rifle (I'm all about wood stocks and blued steel), I could care less what others choose to hunt with and of course believe they have the right to own and hunt with those guns. I do not own a black gun (other than some .22lr's that were either won, or given to me), but I have considered buying one for it's advantages as a self defense gun. Just haven't done it yet.

223 hits a lot harder than 22LR and been more hungry kids fed with a 22LR than any other cartridge is my guess.

As far as killing deer goes I don't care what tool is used and would personally use anything including a tire iron. Dead is dead in my book.

There is only one species, turkey, that I hold to a proscribed set of rules and that is because I was taught by the old masters and to honor their memory. But that is just for me and my own consumption. You may do as you please and I will support your right to do so.

The first year any center fire was legal in KS my son in law was pretty upset. So I took him with me. Dropped a nice buck with my 22 hornet. One shot center of the throat. About 75 yards. He still aint happy about the law. Likes to say most people wont wait for the right shot. But he bowhunts. Figure that one out. I cant.
