There’s no place like trap camp! I’d love to see what you guys use for a cabin during trapping season. I’ve had mine since 2014, Township 36 MD, Maine. Was built in the 1930s by the CCC as a supervisors cabin. The main CCC cabins are about a half mile down the road. It’s been a long road and there’s always work to be done but I’ve tried to improve it each year.

I tried it once, it’s hard on the back! Bunks in the back corner.

There’s better trapping ground but it’s close to home.

I’m 13 miles south of Grand Lake Steam. I can get there in 20 minutes or so depending on the shape of the road.

It’s a nice area for that. We have a few deer every square mile, haha. If you can find one it’s often a good one.

Yep, the outside does need paint and some TLC, but the marten like living in the attic just the way it is.

For sure, that was the first trip in. The day I bought it. I tore the screen room and a couple odd additions off. Added a metal roof a year or so later. Brought it back to the basics.

Mines 12x16 so I know the feeling! Less space to keep clean and warm as far as I’m concerned. Love it.

I don't see a lot of insulation in that wall. I had one like it. My great uncle built it in the 30s. No insulation, just boards.

Nice collection of bucks b&b.

I’ve had insulation in other camps and it just seems to hold moisture and mice. As small as it is I’ve found I haven’t needed it yet. I may some day but I’m not there much when it’s below 0. As it is that wood stove will drive you out of there in no time.

That was my experience. Sucks being the guy who has to climb out of bed in the morning to fire up the stove.

Yeah I probably have to get up 2 or 3 times a night to fill the stove. Not the best job but someone has to do it. My stove sucks too. I could probably spend some money and only have to fill it once or twice but for as much as I’m there it does the trick. You know how it is, it’s either 50* or 90*. Not often that sweet 70. Maybe that’s where that insulation comes into play!

Lots of very nice, neat and clean cabins in this thread. Like the wooden panel walls inside, and clean looks . But Jack’s takes the cake , for me. I loved staying there , Jack . It was wonderful and comfy. That cabin is stylin.

In all fairness, it started as a shed to put a pontoon in when Covid started and is only a few 100 feet from the house. I don't mind staying there once in a while and just "unplugging".

Nice camp bucks n bears,..much like ours minus the full mounts,.just antlers. More waterfowl hunts here, good feeling over the years. the number of new hunters experiencing this richness. The commaradie witnessed with each gives hope for the future.

Some real nice cabins. I like portability. I dont trap the same country all the time.

Locally milled tamarack flooring. Cut nails. Measured and predrilled every hole. Took about twenty swings of the hammer to seat them without marring the boards.

I millled a couple thousand board feet of tamarack into 2X8s and 2x10sf or flooring once. Fellah used it for barn floors. Claimed it’s the only wood that horse urine doesn’t destroy. I do remember it being awfully dense.

As long as I want to keep living it is, can't really see it but both ridge pole holes are open and the door doesn't seal. Just put new canvas on this summer.

I finally accumulated enough pieces of plywood and chainsaw milled the 2x4’s to prefab an 8x8 line shack. Took it apart and freighted it to the site, then put it together. Forest fire took it out next summer. Never even spent a night in it. And so it goes.

Yeah it was a real gut punch to roll up to that. Time and money. Never seem to have both at the same time 😎

Oh geez. That sucks and I am sincerely sorry. Likely being a new structure it wasn't even mapped yet for the guys to know it was even there.

I have nothing clever to put here.
