Went to the Dollar Store today to buy some of the items I typically buy for fall trapping season. Things like canned Jack Mack, the 1 pound chub of salt, and sometimes they had these small boxes of Borax. Not anymore.

The one food isle in the store was decimated. Where there used to be a variety of canned goods, there is now only a few scattered little envelopes of food items instead. Cans of tuna have been replaced with little envelopes of tuna chunks. The shelves used to be full of all sorts of soups, vegetables and fruits. No more. Dang, lost my source of cheap lure and bait making materials.

Went over to the local Wally World and prices were exactly triple what I used to pay at the Dollar Store. RIP Dollar Store.

What you've witnessed at the DG is a lack of management...may a lack of employees....that has led to inventory not being stocked on the shelves in a timely manner. There are probably pallets of stock in the back of the store.

Check back in a week or so....likely will be full shelves.

I see same thing here at the DG.

Some of the DG's that I've been in, look like a bomb has gone off. Finding things is like a giant Easter egg hunt.

The regional manager of DG told the stores to not stop shoplifters here. They just pack stuff out the front, put in their cars and come back in for more. I don’t know how they make it.

Never fear, Amazon is here!!!! I can get 12 of the 15 oz cans delivered tomorrow for $22. Still an increase in my cost of production, but still pretty cheap.

The dollar stores here are higher than Walmart, but the nearest Walmart is 126 miles away. We have both DG and Family Dollar/Dollar Tree here. They'll getcha if you don't pay attention. $6+ for deodorant stick at Family Tree and $7 for two at Wallymart.

They've built a dollar general every 5 miles around me and half the shelves in them are empty yet they are still building more!

One i went in last weekend was dirty as Earls garage at the end of town, lol. Floors looked like someone had been changing transmission's in there for 30 years.

Why don't you just walk 50 feet across the parking lot to the next Dollar Store, Dollar General, Anything for a Dollar, It's All a Dollar or the other similar stores. Rural Ohio has dollar type stores on the edges of most every tiny town and random large intersection.

Our DG is usually fully stocked but in boxes in the aisles, not on the shelves. Can't pull the clerks away from their phones while sitting at the register long enough to stock the shelves.

About 1/3rd of the aisles are blocked off with boxes in our local dollar store. It's like a revolving maze.

That's just what I do, drive a couple miles and check the next dollar whatever store
Ours are usually stocked up, maybe because they're rural. And yes sometimes it looks like a bomb went off in them. Seems like they have a large crew that goes to each store every couple weeks and stocks heavy and cleans up the mess. It gets that way because they usually only have one or two people working and they just can't keep up with stock and running the register
