How long does it take to pass a kidney stone? My girlfriend has been complaining that her insides hurt for several days. Last night she was in considerable pain and had a fever. This morning she woke up and could hardly walk the pain was so severe she could hardly walk. She says she thinks she has a kidney stone. Any info is appreciated.

Mine was huge. They told me it was just a tiny chip. They were wrong as usual. I had to pass that monster. Good thing the plumbing was adequate for the job.

Got a bottle with a whole bunch of them, first one I ever had thought I was going to die, never knew any one with them
Did not have any idea what was happening and it so small I embarrassed to show it compared to the ones I pass now!

First one took only one day to pass after the hospital told me how to help move them, 1 pain killers 2 lots of water to keep pushing and pressure to move them, 3 don’t lay around get up an move around !!

Really works , usually you have more should check your diet and have the stones checked to see what kind they are

Positive thing here at least for me is that each on has been less pain full to pass at least on my right side which I get most from, couple years ago I passed one just a bit bigger than a pencil eraser that one took a month to pass my largest trophy LOL most are way smaller, most just round hardly any pain but noticeable, some like a goat head burr terrible pain to deal with, but my pain threshold is way higher now

More water, lots of walking moving around, and light pain killers to dull them up, when the pain stops start using a strainer, they have moved to your bladder, you need to save them to have them anylized , usually takes a couple days on your first one cause people just lay around
Good luck !!

I passed them pretty regular for many years. Couple times it was so bad, I went to emergency room. Each time I'd "catch" the little culprit, hospital would send them in for analysis. What a joke. The results came back a different make-up each time. Finally started taking pipsissewa tincture once a month. Only about 1/8 of a cup. Haven't had a stone in about 5 years now. I've given the tincture to friends. Same results -- no stones. I encourage you all to try it (from a homeopath).

I've heard it likened to childbirth. I contend that it's got to be much worse. A year or two after they have the first child, the wife says something like "Hey honey, it's about time to have another child. Whaty'd'ya say?" I've never heard of a person passing a stone that's ready and willing to pass another, and say, "It's about time to have another".

Convincing her to go to a doctor is the hard part. She says she has had them before and will be ok. Thanks for the info everyone.

My son gets them bad, passed several now, had the blasting treatment but didn't get it all, going in this week for another try... said the pain is tremendous.

First time he had to go to the emergency room, they had to give him morphine for the pain, hardly anyone gets that trip unless you come in in pieces, lol

Simple xray tells that . IF it's blocked the tube she can go septic and or loose a kidney. Fever is a no-no with a stone. I laid for 4 days once trying to pass one. Dr said if fever starts get to hospital. That's only red flag id be concerned with .... Plus being a female too many other things there besides a kidney stone.....

Many critically important things.
Most importantly, it can be something else. Fever means there's inflammation, and inflammation + peritoneal cavity is not a good combination. You don't want to miss a burst appendix, an ectopic pregnancy, a pancreas that has digested itself, or other scary things.
If the stone is big, it will require destruction. Even a small stone can be blocking the ureter and the pressure of the accumulating urine can lead to severe kidney damage and kidneys don't really heal well. Having two kindeys is a good thing.

THIS sorry I made my post before reading this.....
