The other day, Steven 49er mentioned that when China decides to invade Taiwan, it would be end game. This really got me thinking as I respect what he says.

I don't think we can defeat Russia now even if we send troops to Ukraine. I think it will be a meat grinder and the end result is we lose. Furthermore, if China invades Taiwan at the same time, I clearly don't think it is possible to fight both China and Russia on two fronts. I would think that China could take Taiwan in a matter of days; if not hours.

So, lets take the worse case scenario merely as a talking point. If we lose the war against Russia in Ukraine and Taiwan falls to the Chinese, how will that affect our global dominance? How soon would the dollar be replaced as the world's reserve currency? And if it is replaced as we can no longer defend it with our military, what would it be replaced with? I keep hearing that China's economy is in collapse, but Russia appears to be strong even with all the sanctions.

The USD is already facing "de-dollarization" along with the Euro. Many of the "RoW" countries are trying to get out from USD or Euro-based debt. The trend was starting for the current war but it now has accelerated. I doubt it will happen all at once but if more and more of the foreign-based USDs come home AND the fed reserve keeps printing digits and buying U.S. bonds, I think the U.S. financial system is in for a rude awaking. The federal government's debt just passed 33 trillion and ole Janet is selling bonds as fast as she can find people to buy them. The interest on the government debt will pass a trillion $$ in 2024. And it mostly likely will get worse in time. The turtle is starting to get flipped on its back...

P.S. Put aside the military side of a war with China but concentrate on the economic/supply chain side of things. How empty will most U.S. general consumer products stores or Amazon be in 6 months if all trade with China is cut off? We produce most of our own supermarket food (at least little of it comes from China) but but there are things where we have basically let China, India or others now make for us such as generic drugs-- including most cheap antibodies-- and OTC meds. What happens when those dry up and we can't get anything back on line in a year or more? I guess India will be getting richer making more pharmaceuticals. I suspect most of the chest thumpers in DC don't have a clue in how much consumer stuff we import.

We need a new President. Anyone now of someone running who could fix all of what's wrong in, lets say, a New York minute?
