Yup. Was cutting the grass today and went around the burning bush. About 10 minutes later I felt something on my neck. I gave it small brush off. Next thing I knew it was crawling across my face,

There was a squeal, a lot of flailing, and possibly some pee.

I usually see a few walking sticks a year.

A lot of people keep the giant walking sticks as pets. Some species can get 20 inches long. They are the world's largest insects. The zoos I've been to always have them on display.

Is a walking stick and a praying mantis the same thing?
The only time I've seen anything like that was at the Moses Lake Rendezvous in the early 90's. The exterior wall of the restroom was covered with them.

They are different , I picked up a Mantis today off the porch and placed it in a nearby bush .

I'm no fan of insects and most get the bottom of the boot , except the walking stick , praying mantis , and the Honey bee

Waking Sticks. They run in cycles. Some years the woods are full of them and some years, just a few, but always some.
I see them in the fall here, right around mid to late October. Creepy looking aren't they?
