Thinking about getting one of these in 6.5 creedmore for my wife. Anyone have any input/ experience with the rifle ( not the caliber )?

Don't have one but have watched a bunch of reviews on them and have kicked around the idea of getting one myself pretty hard

the CVA is a budget Bergara sold under the CVA name

Bergara are nice rifles

the CVA also has a length adjustable stock option and threaded muzzle

Why not a 243 ?? I mean the fair sex has a habit of doing a lot of talking. By buying her a Cm you would only encourage that and she will want to tell everyone that she has a rifle that can put little craters on the moon and other nonsense. Whereas the 243 is a well respected cartridge that is above all that hyperbole and will still be around when the Cm is but a distant memory.

As for the rifle brand ........ I guess you would buy her a copper ring with a pebble on it to save the expense of gold and diamonds.
You should have her look at a Mauser rifle from a contemporary manufacturer that is at least color case hardened and has a turkish walnut stock

The biggest difference between the bergara and the CVA ( same barrels) is the action. CVA has a 3 lug 60° rotation bolt.

I bought her a diamond ring but it got snagged on the salmon net and was yanked off her finger into the Yukon river. Fancy expensive rifles look great in the gun cabinet for weekend warriors but we live in the bush and our guns are used-n-abused.

I guess the real question is how many boxes of 6.5cm on the shelf today at the local stores in Bush Alaska

count how many boxes of 308win are on that shelf also

consider getting the one with more boxes

Or buy large amounts of ammo online cheaper when available. If your still counting on store shelves for next month's ammo you haven't learned much over the last 2 ammo shortages. I've got enough ammo for the last rifle I bought about 9 months ago accumulated for the rest of my lifetime+ taking it to the ranger 2 or 3 times a year and hunting with it.
But I guess if your a 308 guy u have to hang ur hat on something. grin

I was going to say for about the same money you can get a Tikka T3 and have a much better rifle... then I went and looked at current prices, shocked . I guess you can't anymore. I always thought a 7mm-08 was the best choice for a ladies rifle, never paid any attention to the 6.5 creedmore.

With all due respect unless you have shot a CVA your only speculating. I bought a new Tikka a year and a half ago because of a lot of peoples recommendations, good rifle and I wouldn't be afraid to buy another but it wasn't the end all be all some think they are. Bought a new Vanguard series 1 about 10 months ago and like it a bit better than the Tikka though both are great rifles and I'm sure both will get used regularly.

We can't have ammo shipped up to Alaska. 6.5 creedmore has been available and there are just about as many choices on the shelves in Fairbanks as 308 win. Even when the shelves were almost bare 6.5 creedmore ( and 308 ) were available. 7mm-08 was another one I was looking at but availability has been pretty limited over the years.

That is why they make so many different guns. They are trying to make something for everyone's varying opinions.

Interesting, I did not know that. I wonder why?

They must ship it to the suppliers there, maybe you could have them order something for you if it's available down here???

Can't ship by air which is how USPS, UPS, Fed ex get there stuff here. Ammo dealers order in bulk which comes via barge and then trucked to Fairbanks. Sucks, I hate seeing those bulk ammo deals and I can't order it, tried ordering caps for a muzzleloader and same thing..........can't ship to Alaska.
