My last Caribou hunt until our winter hunt in December. Also a bit of how I make Dried Meat Strips. I hope y’all enjoy. Still editing my successful moose hunt.

This was a hunt earlier this fall. I’m behind on my editing. I’ve got a moose hunt I’m editing now. Any large bulls now will be a bit gamier for sure

Nice time. By the colour of the willow looking bush you cut, fall was not very far along, maybe mid way. With the bulls in velvet. Looking at the ground, no wonder walking off the trail is done with care. I didn’t see any spot of soil . Lots of loose rock. I like your system of wrapping the meat between the hides with tarp on top, in transit. Thanks for the share.

Thanks Snowy, Sharon, Wraggler, and drasselt.

Yeah I really do my best to keep my peoples culture and traditions alive. Wrapping the meat like this keeps dirt and rain off the meat for sure.

The brooks range still amazes us even though we live up here.

Rock blinds like this have been on these mountains for as long as my people have been here, some will claim that “I built that 20 years ago” more like they rebuilt it.

Thanks again

What's the gas prices up there? Lots of folks down here couldn't really afford to get out like they usually do. A lot of folks from Fairbanks/ Anchorage too, trespassing was a huge problem this year and the troopers had to get involved. Seems like the crazy prices for food and gas have brought out the worst in people...................

Good video sir. So, you ran a 4 wheeler 70 or so miles from Venetie to Arctic Village area to caribou hunt then back again the same day. Is that right? Man, that's impressive. I've done some 50 mile a day woods riding when I was younger and that was enough. 140 miles on a wheeler would suck you dry. Pretty country.

In Arctic Village it was at least 10 dollars a gallon. Yeah in Venetie it’s 8 a gallon. It definitely makes it hard to go out any real distance on the river. That’s to bad to hear about the trespassing, it’s sad to see people get desperate or just plain don’t care about private property. Hope you and your family are doing ok.

Thanks jk my wife really helps me a lot on these hunting videos that have hours of footage that need to be trimmed down. I have a hard time cutting out footage, but if I left it in it wouldn’t be as enjoyable. We’re happy to share our world up here

Oh no that 70 miles is in air miles. We took a single engine Cessna caravan up to Arctic Village then the ATV up the mountain. The snow machine/Argo trail is well over a hundred miles from Venetie to Arctic. Oh yeah 50 miles on a four wheeler is definitely a real ride for sure. I’ve done plenty of 40 mile days and the most on a four wheeler was prolly somewhere over 60 in a day. 140 miles and my back would never let me hear the end of it. I have a bad back so I always have to keep moving. Thanks for writing and have a good one

Thanks!! Great video!

1.) What knife are you using to cut up the meat for dried strips? The closest I've gotten to a knife like that is the re-furb fishing skinners you get from the trapping supply houses. But it looked like you were using a better one.

2.) I put it on Trappers Report so you have a personalized link you can send around....

Just got back home and back online.

The knife is a $15 fillet knife. The name of the make on the knife wore off a long time ago. I have a few others that have longer blades that work even better.

Awesome! Thanks I checked out your site. Looks like a lot of work, thanks for adding me
