Nice catch Beav! That's pretty funny. I had a slow day today with only 1 coyote and that was the only action on my line. Not sure was caused the lack of movement.

Caught 7 rats today and had my Beaver snare knocked down. Then I set up the other park location.
The rats are just about a week to 10 days away from being prime. There close but a little woolly around the hips.

Had a nice double on coyote this morning. Still pretty slow with the warm weather.

The fur is looking better than it did last Sunday on my first check. I'm sure they'll look much better by mid-November but they're not as bad as the price will be, lol.

Ended up with 42 rats off of 2 jobs. The rats are about 10 days from being prime. I have 2 of those Comstock beaver live traps out and so far have not caught any beaver. But did catch a big boar coon this morning In one. It wasn't worth skinning didn't have a straight guard hair on It. So It's running free In Dane county Got another rat job starting on the 25th. That's a 3 check job and then It's time to hunt some speedy beef.

I am waiting for rats to open up. A young trapper stopped by that drew a cat tag and l gave him a bucket of waxed dirt, some lure and bait to try, along with my limited knowledge of cat trapping. He also has 2 fisher tags so should have some action. Tight chains! The young trapper that I donated the supplies to called me this morning and told me that he caught his Bobcat yesterday. Nice looking female cat.

Heading up today- The 10-day forecast looks punishing- it must be trapping season!
Our season opens Saturday and based on the forecast, we should be froze up by Monday. They are talking a potential BIG snowstorm over the weekend too.
I have nothing clever to put here.

I pulled my coyote line today. The weather will make most of my farms inaccessable. I'll set after the weather strainghtens out. Good luck all.

Really happy I pulled my coyotes sets yesterday. We've had about 2.5" of rain already so it will take some time before the fields are accessable.

I traveled to a large, mostly public land flowage in Wisconsin's northern zone for the opening of muskrat season last Saturday morning. I left the Jon Boat at home and put out about 40 sets along various Road accessible shorelines for a one night soak only . Some of the usual hardcore rat trappers were present And had most of the houses set up by the time I arrived right after daylight. Most of my sets were feedbed, toilets, and a few dens and houses. Beaver Bill accompanied me on Sunday checking traps. He said he needed the exercise and wanted to learn how not to trap muskrats. About midday Bill made a very astute observation about my rat trapping abilities after noticing rat droppings on the pan of a unsnapped trap. My version of this odd occurrence is that the muskrat read the name on the Trap tag and it scared the crap out of it.. Anyway, it was a nice day and ended up with 22 rats.
