40 boxes and 120s. 2 wolverine boxes and a 330. Happy to pick up one on the way down after setting almost everything. 2 even better! 3rd marten was icing on the cake!! Can’t wait to see what I see on Saturday after 3 nights of sitting. The reason I said I set ALMOST everything is because I stupidly forgot my axe in my truck and couldn’t chop bait. I had to leave two 220 boxes on the line and I used the whole bear arm to set the one 330 on old sign. Looking forward to a busy season and couldn’t ask for a better start

Come on Saturday. Taking forever to get my first trap check in. I replaced my stove pipe in the fur shack before supper today. Now I’m setting springs and adjusting triggers on 65 more traps. I’ll cut 60 pieces of fish and screw the bait into the boxes later on or tomorrow if I get tired which I doubt as I’ve barely been sleeping lately. Once I get 100 marten boxes out I’ll feel like I’m getting somewhere. Bobby is spending a lot of time on his 200. Probably take him down the line after a couple more good snow falls.

Nope. We can use anything. That was originally to protect the use of old trapping methods like deadfalls etc. The exact wording in the agreement is that we can harvest “by any means necessary”. Same reason it’s legal to hunt wolves with snowmobile etc

Thats sweet Bobby has his own sled now! This is actually his second. He was riding a 120 since he was 4. I have a whole bravo LT in parts right now. That’s what he’ll be using next

Wolves close to town. Boiling up some gear then I’m off for a closer look. Friend of mine seen where the pack was chasing a mother and cub grizzly so I’ll take a bear arm and a beaver. 7 snares and two traps are boiling right now.

Heading out shortly to check the wolf sets and try some ice fishing. My trapping partner can’t make it across the Mackenzie yet but that’s not stopping him from catching fur close to his hometown. 3 wolverine and 2 wolves so far for him plus a handful of marten

I’m getting 20 marten boxes, 3 wolverine boxes, some wolf gear, a 10x12 tent, sleeping bag, mattress and a grub box ready for the long weekend. Looking forward to getting more gear out and checking the 86 that’s already set. I’ll set the tent and camp a couple nights. Probably put some real effort into finding a good moose too. When I got to the usual tent site last trip it would’ve been so nice to have the tent there for a quick fire and cup of tea but without it I just had to turn back and start the 4 hour ride back to the truck. Not so bad right now while it’s still warm out but once the temperatures drop I’ll need the tent for a quick warm rest before turning back. I like relaxing in the tent too as it gives the trap a couple hours to catch some bonus fur on the way out
