Purchased these traps for my birthday in May as the claimed to be made in the USA and that meant something to me. Had them set off and on around the garden and chicken coop. Saw this one fired but no animal. It appears the wire spring metal has failed. Contacted their customer service and because it had been set, they wouldn’t help. Not the level of customer service I was hoping for from a company that won’t stand behind their product. I have Duke dog proof that are 5-6 years old and not one failure. Not one.

I cannot recommend these and unfortunately will be spending my money on either the NO BS or Duke traps in the future.

I realize things happen. It is how the company stands behind their products that matter.

That is a shame. To me it would be well worth more than the cost of a replacement spring and shipping, or even a complete replacement trap, to have a happy customer. Especially if he's a member of the largest trapping forum on the internet!

I remember Duke having an issue with some levers bending one time. They sent everyone that asked a box of new levers to replace all them they had bought, 100% free. That is the kind of customer service that most trap suppliers have and the reason they get a lot of my business.

Like you I have some Dukes that are 6-7 years old and still catching coons and fox. Bought some Bridgers really cheap and those have held everything that’s got in them.
I even have some Dukes that were run over and I bent everything back as straight as I could and they still catch. What I really like is I can hair trigger those jokers when I need some canine bait, lol. Rats don’t stand a chance!

Edited to say this…you better have some hand strength to set those Dukes or buy the setter. I can now set them by hand, but when I first got them I had to get a setter. A firm handshake doesn’t mean you can set a Duke, lol.

"because it had been set they wouldn't help"

How the heck do they expect you to see if they work or are faulty if you don't set them..
That's the worst customer service I've ever heard of.

That's surprising out of QSR.

What happened to the middle trap? Can't imagine how that bend happened by failure or 4 footed critter.

Will soon find out that will cost them a lot. It takes YEARS to build a good reputation and seconds to lose it.

Surely that didn't bend just sitting there. Any cows or horses around the area?

The boys have Duke, I have a couple Zs. No problems thus far. I'm a believer in sticking by your products, if you can't, they are clearly junk imo.

Our yard is fenced from livestock or there wouldn’t be any garden left. The trap was still staked in the ground, just tripped with no catch. It is the trap in the middle that I’m talking about. The wire is humpback like it gave way. I had to have the customer service guy repeat the reason he refused to warranty. It had been set. This was after he put me on hold to talk to his manager. I was like seriously and if that is your stance so be it.

Looks like they didn’t get the spring tempered right and they bent, it happens I’m surprised they didn’t just send a new spring.

Call them back again and send them a picture of the trap. Be persistent . Ask to speak to someone else higher up.

I agree. It really doesn't matter why the trap springs bent, what matters is they now have bad feedback due to an unhappy customer that for the cost of a spring they could have avoided.

Dan, I sent them the same pic I posted on here with the same explanation and then left them a voicemail on Thursday or Friday. They called me back yesterday and I asked the gentleman if he had seen the pic? I got the impression he had not. His decision was solely based on our conversation on the phone. I expressed my disappointment and he put me on hold to discuss with his manager. After less than a minute he returned and said there wasn’t anything he could do as I had ‘set the trap’. I said basically if that’s how it’s going to be so be it.

It’s a $13 trap, and I will not ask again. What I will do is keep the trap for display to every potential buyer in the future. Im pretty good at posting pics so it will be a topic of discussion on every forum i’m a member.

Several years back I had a new trap show up with a defect- I emailed FnT a picture and had to answer only 1 question: Was that the only one. The answer was yes and a shipping lable showed up within about 5 mins.

I have a bunch of Freedom Brand DPs, but they are older.

Seem to work fine.
