Idaho asked for some funds in their fight. We sent them a check for $3,000. It's great to see that fund at work!

Next month we will be having an auction to raise funds for Defense fund to bolster it up. It's a valuable asset that's great to have when needed.

How many funds we (you) have?

We have the defense fund and a discretionary fund. The discretionary fund is mainly for bereavement and get well wishes for trapperman members. Zim and Patrice are the caretakers of the discretionary fund.

I don't know what the specifics are. Hopefully wheelers will chime in. The request was made through him.

It is cold and snowy there in the winter and burns in the summer. People tend to like to be left alone there.

What I'm told is it's a federal grizzly lawsuit that will shut down wolf trapping in 80% of Idaho.

If it is the federal lawsuit I’m thinking about, 12 so called Environmental group with the Center for Biological Diversity being the main organization wants to ban wolf trapping in most of Idaho. I believe it also includes parts of Montana and Wyoming. Their reason is to protect the Grizzly Bear. If they get their way, you mind as well say goodbye to the Idaho Elk herd.

And a new scholarship fund in the works I believe.

It's great to see where the money goes, and to see it's going where it's really needed and not into someone's pocket.

Halt wolf trapping because of bears? That doesn't make sense. Bears are usually in hibernation during trapping season.

There is a committee made up of Trapperman members. They are Gary Meise (Maddog47), Dave D'aigle (Wheelers), Tara Roach (Snaregirl), Jackie Malone (Jtrapper), Laurie Jones/Woolson (MsCat), Cindy (Cindy), and one more who I can't recall the name right now. I have elected not to be a voting member on any of these to insure that folks don't think I have a finger in the pie.

For the Defense fund, I have a forum set up that you can access anytime. It will show what actions have been taken, where the funds came from and a running balance.

The Defense fund is set up as a non-profit. There is a requirement to have a meeting at least once a year by the committee members. The last meeting was just a few days ago, and part of the new business was the request from Idaho for some funds. Cindy makes sure all is done legally and by the book to keep us out of trouble. We're so lucky to have her.
