Up in NW MN started with a couple days of rain and last night got six - eight inches of heavy wet snow , laid down all grass ( for trails ) . Gonna be well below freezing every night in forecast ( will be icing up ) . Hard to get excited .

I'm dumber because my truck has twice the traps in it as yours. Wheelers and I hit it hard tomorrow.

Loaded my Pickup today with traps, waxed sand and dirt and all the equipment to go for coyotes tomorrow. Hopefully, to get in 70 sets of traps and snares the next several days with the help of my nephew. I’m about 1,000 mile from MN but trapping is trapping whatever state.

My boat is loaded with beaver gear but now I am trying to decide whether or not to set as many traps as I had originally planned. I will start with a few and decide on how it is going and how much ice I will have to bust when I go to check them. I may wind up setting very few.

I'd say the majority of Minnesotans are dumb judging from the way they vote. I know a former Minnesotan in Nome who is dumb that way!
If you have traps and gear in your truck I doubt you are one of the dumb ones!

My first pond at 0900 this morning had skim ice on it. Two of the 4 ponds I set may not even have any beaver left in them. I got out a few Beaver sets, some blind rat/mink sets and a couple of colony traps. Many will be froze up in the morning but at least I got to play in the water for a little bit. It sure isn't like the old days of pulling the loaded boat around the whole lake trying to get 250-300 sets in on the first day.

Got one beaver spot set with a couple of sets and set a couple of canine sets also. Maybe a couple more tomorrow. I have to look for beaver areas that I don't have to carry everything in to. Keep forgetting I am not 20 any more.
